General garden maintenance is the regular upkeep of a whole garden in a single visit, rather than booking separate trades for separate jobs. A maintenance visit typically covers mowing and edging, weeding of garden beds, light pruning and shaping, clearing of paths and hard surfaces, and removal of all green waste. Weeds n’ Wonders provides general garden maintenance across Melbourne’s eastern and north eastern suburbs for homes and businesses.
The difference between maintenance and a one off clean up is timing. Maintenance catches work before it becomes a job. Weeds are pulled before they seed. Hedges are trimmed before they lose their shape. Lawn is cut before it needs two passes.
This is why regular visits cost less over a year than the same garden rescued twice. A garden that is never allowed to get away never needs rescuing.

The pattern
Gardens do not decline steadily. They hold, then they go all at once, usually over one busy spring.
A weed that seeds becomes fifty weeds. A hedge missed once takes two cuts to bring back. Every job you skip makes the next one bigger.
Most garden jobs have a right month. Prune at the wrong time and you can lose a season of flowering. Miss bindii in winter and it takes far more work to clear in spring. Time is not neutral in a garden.
Almost nobody falls behind because they do not care. They fall behind because the two free Saturdays in a month were already taken.
Regular maintenance removes all three problems at once. Nothing gets a chance to compound, every job happens in its right month, and none of it costs you a Saturday.

Every four weeks suits most gardens in Melbourne’s east, and it is what the majority of our regular clients settle on. It is frequent enough that nothing ever compounds and infrequent enough to stay sensible.
Larger gardens, and gardens with a lot of lawn or hedging, often want us fortnightly, and most keep that year round because consistency is what stops work compounding.
Small courtyards and low maintenance native gardens are usually four weekly.

Pricing
We charge $180 an hour, with a $180 minimum for a visit. That rate covers two gardeners on site, allowing us to work efficiently through the garden and prioritise what needs attention most. On the first visit we work out what your garden needs and what is realistically achievable in the time, and we tell you before we start.
Most clients continue on a regular visit every four weeks. There is no contract and no lock in period, and you can change the frequency or stop at any time.
